Every student MUST have a Gmail account. (Your user name must have your first initial and your full last name in it. For an example: dmwach@gmail.com = Danielle Marie Wach) This email account is not private. This is an email account you will use during your time at Roxborough High School to communicate and send documents to your teachers. You, your parents/guardians and myself will know your user names and passwords for your email, wiki
Every student MUST sign up for MY wiki. It is up to you whether you want to make your own wikispace.
Every student MUST sign up for engrade (a computerized grading system that displays your grades in real time)
Every student MUST check their email and wiki at least twice a week (more is recommended). If you do not have a computer at home you must borrow a friend or family members computer, go to a local library or use a school computer during appropriate times.
Some Necessary Tech Tips:
1. When writing me an e-mail or a Google Doc you must write in complete sentences. (no slang, spell correctly, use proper punctuation) No exceptions.
2. If I catch you chatting with someone using the laptop and you are not giving 100% effort toward your class work, I will take the laptop away for an undetermined amount of time.
3. If you don't finish something in class that was done through your Gmail account, you may work on it in the school library, neighborhood library, at home or a relative/friends house. There are no excuses for missed or incomplete work!
4. The Gmail account you created for this class is for my English class. You may use it for other teachers, but it's primarily for this class. Keep it neat and organized. Make a folder for all my comments, work, or e-mails.
5. Do not abuse e-mail. Please have consideration for the feelings of others. You should not write negatively about another person, spread rumors, or forward junk mail. Nor should you send any inappropriate material.
